YSPOR has attended several community engagement events across the Territory to identify community health priorities. This helps YSPOR serve as a match maker, connecting health researchers with community partners. YSPOR supports community-oriented health research to ensure it is conducted appropriately. For example, YSPOR can assist with research agreements and data management strategies to minimize harm and maximize benefits for communities. The health researcher information resource outlines important background and procedural information for those seeking to involve Yukon residents in their projects. The document is informed by engagement with local non-governmental organizations and First Nations. Reviewing this resource, including the questions to consider in determining whether a project is community-oriented, will support research teams in presenting their projects to prospective community partners.
